Ferrara, Italy, October 5, 2013. Noo Saro-Wiwa, Nigerian writer. Her debut book "Looking for Transwonderland" (Granta, 2012) is the story of her journey to Nigeria after many years of absence. Ms. Saro-Wiwa left Nigeria due to the assassination of her father, Ken Saro-Wiwa, a writer and activist who was arrested and condemned to death by a military court because of his fight against environmental damages caused by Shell in Nigeria. Since 1958 the Shell company has been extracting oil from the delta of the Niger river. 'Looking for Transwonderland' in 2012 was named the Sunday Times travel book of the year and was named by The Guardian as one of the ten best books on Africa. Ms. Saro-Wiwa lives in London.
